the future beckons....

jetsons.gifCould it be? A short step from the grey sweat suit to the silver one piece that we were all supposed to be wearing in the year 2000? Fashionistas be very afraid. The grey sweat suit revolution appears to be spreading. With air taxis on the way - personal air transportation shouldn't be too far off - Jetsons here we come.

winter's here...

We woke up on Saturday morning to see it was snowing out. Yikes! November 14 and it's started to snow. Well it snowed all day and was windy enough to blow the stuff around. That's the snow I like least - the kind that blows off the roof in sparkly ice crystals and finds its way down the back of your neck. Brr. I've decided to try to enjoy winter more - after all, we have it for what seems like an eternity every year, might as well learn to like it.
Well at least the sun came out today but it still was very cold out. I think winter's made an early arrival. Must go get some snow tires...sigh.

the incredibles...

incred.gifWe went to see The Incredibles on Friday night. I don't remember when the last time was that I laughed so hard I had tears rolling down my face at a movie. The storyline was brilliant and had non-stop action from start to finish. Thoroughly enjoyable, a definite must see.
My favorite character: Edna
My favorite line: Robert....my god you're fat!
My favorite part: deciding how to get downtown

6 stars out of 5 ;)

deliciously organized...

Do you know what's on your shelves? The Delicious Library has just been released and it will help keep those shelves tidy - at least virtually. I'm hoping future developments will allow you to change the shelf style but for now the wood is ok.

supersize me

Just finished watching the movie Supersize Me and I was truly dismayed and revolted. Fast food is an easy choice, especially as time is at a premium these days. Two parents workings, rushing kids from one after-school activity to another, and so on. Monday to Sunday becomes a blur that races by every week. Unfortunately the price we pay for convenience (fast food as a time-saving device) is an unhealthy diet.
Particularly jarring in the movie was realizing how much McDonald's markets to children - something I hadn't ever really thought about. Just like major tobacco marketing to teenagers in the far east, McDonalds is indoctrinating the youth of America. I guess the play sets should have been the clue.
Watching Morgan Spurlock turn his liver into paté within 15 days of his McD's binge was horrific. Like most other people, I really didn't give fast food too much thought. Well, maybe a thought or two after listening to a Ben Elton sketch about McD's.: "They tell you how good it tastes but not how bad you'll feel!" But now, even the thought of eating a fat-saturated deep-fried meal makes me feel nauseated.
See the movie - it could change your life.

complex tableless layouts...

If you want to relive what is was like to be designing websites circa 1998/99 try your hand at creating complex tableless layouts using stylesheets. (warning - those with low frustration thresholds should steer clear of this exercise!)
It comes as no surprise that websites are starting to look somewhat "samey" these days. My guess is that people are opting to save time and their sanity while creating a derivative look that works.
It's incredibly frustrating to have your html and css validate only to have IE6(windows) choke on some presentational aspect. Not to mention the waste of time to have to rewrite/recode/recheck practically every line against IE when writing your css and html. What's up with that anyway? Have we come full circle back to having to jerry-rig hacks so that IE(win) users get the same visual experience that all other modern browsers are able to deliver?
Feh! Colour me unimpressed!
